Be a Hero, Become a Donor Newsletter
January 18, 2010

First Annual Be A Hero Become A Donor Volunteer Training Session
January/February Volunteer Opportunties

I have decided to send this newsletter to our entire BAHBAD contact list, in hopes of encouraging you to make 2010 the year of committing yourself to something you feel passionate about, be it the work of our foundation, or another important cause.

Some of you have expressed an interest in being part of our efforts to educate, raise awareness and provide opportunities for individuals to "recycle their bodies" and give HOPE to patients in need, not only in our community, but worldwide.

Our vital resources,  blood, marrow, cord blood, organs and tissues, cannot be made in the laboratory and must come from those willing to share, but without our efforts to teach them of the critical need of these resources, people will continue not to share them and patients and their families will have no HOPE.

Since our first drive, when our son Evan was first diagnosed,
and we found out his need for a marrow donor in May of 2007-
we have brought more than 6000 people to the registry
,
dozens of potential matches,
14 perfect matches that we can account for,
not to mention the hundreds of units of blood,
and countless commitments to organ and tissue donation
that we will never be able to account for.

Many of you have been part of our efforts,
and some of you may have interest to jump on board
our grassroots efforts and start saving lives.

We will host our first annual
BAHBAD Volunteer Training Session
Thursday, February 4
from 6-9pm
at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana

(For those of you out of the area, we will have this training session available to you through the internet, should you desire to get involved in your hometown.)

So, if you are local to southern California,
we strongly encourage you to attend,
whether you have worked dozens of events with us,
are just thinking about participating,
or simply want to learn more about our efforts.

The American Red Cross,
Donate Life,
Be The Match Registry
will provide information/training sessions as part of this educational evening.

We will also be sharing our foundation's mission, messaging, accomplishments and future goals to continue our lifesaving efforts.

Please RSVP to info@bahbad.org
